Piezometric well drilling
Groundwater is one of the most important natural resources on our planet. To get an idea of the quality and quantity of groundwater and to study the effect of water in the pores of the soil or rock and whether it reduces the bearing capacity of the subsoil, piezometric boreholes should be constructed.
The piezometer is widely used in groundwater monitoring to determine the level, pattern of groundwater flow in earth or rock embankment, concrete dams and their foundations. Aquifer parameters such as portability, hydraulic conductivity and groundwater retention are also identified. Piezometric drilling also allows for groundwater sampling and processing for chemical and microbiological analysis.
It should be constructed with a minimum borehole diameter of 98mm and should provide sufficient annular space between the casing pipe and the borehole for a silica gravel filter.
All these parameters will later be used to design water supply wells, industrial irrigation, environmental studies and groundwater protection projects.
